B anbury-type mixers and batch-by-batch mixing are characteristic of today's mixing technology. However, the process is discontinuous and two-stage mixing is often necessary, although only the curing chemicals need to be added at low mixing temperatures during the second stage. Batch-to-batch variation is very common, and additional handling between the two steps - such as storing, weighing and cutting of the master batch - is required. A large investment is required if a second mixer is necessary.
