The Active Wheel is the latest, intriguing invention from the labs of Michelin. It is a combination of wheel, motor and suspension. Aside from the wheel bearing, the wheel itself shrouds an assembly of two electric motors - the 30kW traction motor, and the smaller motor in control of suspension damping plus pitch and roll correction - as well as the suspension coil spring, brake disc and caliper.
