GASIFICATION AND PYROLYSIS -- OVERVIEW OF THE TECHNOLOGIES

Pyrolysis and gasification processes are certainly increasing in their use. Juniper has forecast that over 200 such plants will be commissioned worldwide between 1999 and 2008, with a capital equipment value of these orders in the region of 9 billion US dollars. Many of these will require specific refractory solutions for their thermal sub-systems. Whilst North America and Japan are important markets, the study concludes that the largest market is Europe, with almost 50 percent of worldwide demand.
