Wood harvesting and industrial production of forest products continue to increase, responding to increasing world demand. Ontario, however, is at or near the end of government-deemed surplus wood for most species. An increasing area of Ontario's forests is removed from production forestry forcing industry to find its needs from a shrinking landbase. Intensive forest management ,(IFM) is one way to maintain or increase future wood supply.
