U.S. equity markets lost ground during the March 24-30 reporting period: The Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped 254 points, or 3.3 percent , at 7,522; the S&P 500 index declined 35 points, or 4.3 percent , to 788; and the Nasdaq fell 54 points, or 3.5 percent , to 1,502. What triggered the selloff was a report from the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) that projected the world's developed economies will shrink by 4.3 percent this year, while world GDP will tumble 2.7 percent .
