A survey conducted to tie in with the football World Cup earlier this year has highlighted the effect of the sport on men's feelings and attitudes, with possible benefits for mental health.The survey of 500 men was conducted for the UK's Mental Health Foundation, The main findings included:64% of the men thought football made it easier for men to share their feelings.67% preferred to watch football with friends (although 64% said they still enjoyed watching a match with their family),58% said they sometimes felt aggressive while watching football; 70% said they sometimes felt upset,59% said they would be embarrassed to cry in front of friends during a football match; 49% said they would be embarrassed to cry in front of friends about other issues,76% would not be embarrassed to hug their friends while watching football,34% said they would play more football during the World Cup.59% expected to drink more during the World Cup.
