Committee FP-004 for automatic fire sprinkler systems is considering a new project for home sprinkler systems. The initiative has emanated from Australasian Fire Authorities Council (AFAC) in conjunction with a review of AS 2118.5- 1995 Domestic sprinkler systems, which is based on NFPA 13D, with up to two sprinklers operating. The fire sprinkler system for homes is based on New Zealand Standard NZ 4517 developed by BRANZ which has published a two-part Design Guide on combination domestic plumbing and fire sprinkler systems.
