Omni-X Inc. offers a close-approach-style inserted wiper die holder. The holder is a one-piece machine component, rather than a welded two-piece item. This type of holder is available in hardened steel or aluminum bronze and accepts standard wiper inserts. The close-approach design allows the carriage nose to move closer to the bend die, which reduces the straight tube length for applications in which the last bend is near the end of the tube. Inserted mandrels also are available that can reduce costs in high-production environments, the company says. When worn, the nose proton of the mandrel s replaced rather than the entire shank.
