RESEARCHERS at MIT, US, have developed a method to produce glass that self-cleans and virtually eliminates all reflections and fogging. The surface of the glass is made up of a series of tiny cones whose geometry and slenderness reduce its refractive index to such a degree that it's "almost unrecognisable" as glass, according to the development team of chemical and mechanical engineers. At the same time, the incredible roughness caused by the countless tiny points makes the surface incredibly hydrophobic, causing water droplets to bounce off the glass and keep it free of dirt and grime.
