Workplace-based training at the master's level

Over the Last decade, the I successive changes withthe Caiman reforms, European Working Time Directive and Modernising Medical Careers have shortened training times,and have heightened tensions between training and service. The traditional apprenticeship model has largely disappeared. Generic skills such as research methodology, teaching skills, communication, management, law and ethics remain vital, but trainingin these can be patchy, not assessed and of variable quality.
