Horizontal directional drilling (HDD) rigs are widely used on transmission pipeline projects efficiently and economically to complete river and road crossings, and traverse environmentally sensitive areas with the lowest impact. But how did the technology develop? The Australian Pipeliner speaks to representatives from Vermeer, American Augers and Ditch Witch to learn more about how each company developed its first HDD rig.
