IP issues good H1 results

International Power has issued its results for the six months ended 30 June 2008, which are largely in line with City expectations. Sir Neville Simms, chairman of International Power, said, "I am pleased to report a solid overall performance in the first half of the year with profit from operations up 19 percent and EPS up 7 percent . In addition, with over 3.000MW (net) of new projects announced year to date, the company has continued to deliver on its growth opportunities. Although second half performance will be adversely impacted by the extended outage at Rugeley, the portfolio continues to perform well and is well positioned for the future."
