E.ON UK look at new gas storage site

E.ON UK is carrying out seismic surveys in East Yorkshire to investigate the possibility of building a new salt cavern gas storage facility. The company, which is already developing a gas storage facility at Holford in Cheshire, is investigating an area of land close to the Yorkshire coast to determine whether the geology is suitable for the construction of a similar facility. Paul Golby, chief executive of E.ON UK, said, "It's clear that gas storage will become increasingly important to the UK, both to help ensure that we have enough gas available for homes and businesses but also for the power stations that help keep the country's lights on."
