I n recent months, fire services across the UK have felt the pressure of the coalition government's public spending cuts, with services' budgets slashed by millions of pounds in some cases.Some of the heaviest cuts will affect major urban centres such as Tyne and Wear, set to lose 170 posts, and Cleveland, which faces a 9m cut in its 33m fire and rescue budget.
