CEO OF THE YEAR (AGAIN)

Latin America is one of the fastest growing regions in the pulp and paper industry and Jose Luciano Penido has clearly made his mark on the landscape. Penido was crowned the RISI Latin American CEO of the Year in 2007 as well, only three years after joining the industry. Previously, and for eleven years, he was the CEO of Samarco, a leader in the iron ore mining and pelletizing industry. He has been at the helm of VCP since January 2004 and in that time has embarked upon a remarkable path which has included changing the company focus, setting up several joint ventures with other leading players in the industry and setting his sights firmly on new expansion projects. This expansion course looks set to continue way into the future.
