On December 16, 2015 theAmerican Institute of Architects issued apress release regarding the ArchitectureBillings Index (ABI). The ABI is a leadingeconomic indicator of construction activity,and reflects the approximate nine to twelvemonth lead time between architecturebillings and construction spending.According to the release, the Index dippedin November to 49.3 which was down fromthe mark of 53.1 in the previous month. Thisscore reflects a decrease in design services(any score above 50 indicates an increasein billings). The new projects inquiry indexwas 58.6, up just a nudge from a reading of58.5 the previous month.
