According to data released by theU.S. Department of Commerce, automotivespending saw a significant increase in Marchover the prior month and prior year data.SUV sales increased as a percentage ofvehicles sold in March, a factor attributed tolower gasoline prices. Preliminary April datasuggests lower spending levels as comparedto the prior month but that spending remainedahead of year ago levels.
