Automotive spending ticked up in April based upon data from the U.S. Department of Commerce. Forecasts in the market still suggest that automotive production, in terms of number of vehicles, will exceed 2013 levels by about 5 or so percent. Mechanical tube shipments are about 6% ahead of last year's year-to-date level partially due to an increase over the last 2 months of about 15% over the first quarter run rate.
