Mycotoxins affect poultry and their residue is found in meat and eggs creating human health hazards. Mycotoxins get into the organism, upset metabolism and, in turn, undergo biotransformation. Prophylaxis is based on limiting the absorption, preventing metabolism depression and activating endogenic detoxication of mycotoxins. For the past twenty years considerable progress has been made in the study of mycotoxins and improving the methods of their analysis, yet there are still many problems. The principal method for preventive treatment of mycotoxicosis is reduced to the exclusion from the feed where the toxin content exceeds the permissible concentration. Since it is impossible to analyze every batch of feed used, conditions may arise under which poultry will consume feed contaminated with mycotoxins.
