Like many turkey respiratory diseases, bordetellosis (turkey coryza) can periodically raise its ugly head, particularly if producers get lax about their management practices. That is true even when chlorine routinely is added to drinking water and nipple drinkers are used. When an outbreak of turkey coryza occurs, producers must go back to the basics of good management, which include strict biosecurity, reduction of environmental stress and a vaccination program. Understanding the disease is key todesigning an effective management plan.
