US butadiene prices continued to fall this week as buyers were willing to sit out of the market and wait for lower prices at the end of September and into October. Buyers were heard at 92 cents/lb this week, but sources said those prices most likely would not be available until October. A seller this week said September material could be bought at 96 cents/lb, but no buyers were expressing interest in prompt material. The price this week was assessed at 95 cents/lb, down 3 cents from last week. The spot price is a penny above the August butadiene contract price. “I doubt you can find anyone with interest at [a price over 95 cents/lb],” a trading source said.
