Asian styrene monomer ended the week on firmer ground. On the day, the FOB Korea benchmark was up $5.75/mt to close at $1,274.50/mt, while the CFR China benchmark was up $3.75/mt to rest at $1,281.25/mt. On the week, the FOB Korea benchmark was marginally up by 0.37%, or $4.75/mt, while the CFR China benchmark was up 0.89%, or $11.25/mt. Interest in FOB Korea-priced cargoes was buoyed by a firmer energy complex and main feedstock benzene prices. Front-month crude futures rose $0.92/barrel to $86.28/b, while benzene gained $7/mt at $996.50/mt FOB Korea. Offscreen, trading house Interchem bid at $1,277/mt FOB Korea for an any May-loading Korean-origin cargo.
