European spot prices for polyethylene terephthalate remained stable this week as weak demand and increased competition from imports prevented further price increases despite much higher feedstock prices. UK prices were slightly higher, partly driven by a weakening of the pound relative to the euro. Meanwhile, prices for recycled material experienced a slight increase as some of the cheaper deals available in previous weeks disappeared from the market. Elsewhere, spot prices for paraxylene rose considerably, to be assessed at $1,515/mt FOB ARA Wednesday, up $33/mt from the past week and $153.50/mt from two weeks ago.
