PET bottle chips fell $15 this week to settle at $1,175/mt FOB Northeast Asia and $1,185/mt FOB Southeast Asia on improved demand and lower raw material costs. Offers from China fell $10 to $1,180/mt FOB this week, while South Korean producers raised their offers by $20 to $1,250/mt FOB. South Korean producers usually price their cargoes slightly lower than Chinese producers, but as their exports have improved, they have raised their offers. “We have no inventory pressure now, so we don’t have to sell cheap,” one manufacturer said. In China, however, PET exports remain weak, with domestic offers only at Yuan 9,850/mt on a delivered basis, down Yuan 150 from last week.
