The Northwest polyethylene terephthalate market continued to move against traditional price decreases seen during the winter period, with December contract prices increasing amid raw material price hikes and strong Asian values. December contract prices for both the North and South of Europe were reported at increases of between Eur40-50/mt—an increase both buyers and producers said had covered all raw material movement. “We moved up our December contract in line with the raw materials, so increases of Eur40-50/mt,” a producer said. The December NWE PX CP had settled at Eur740/mt (about $1,060.32/mt) FD NWE, equating to approximately Eur34/mt in terms of PET. Additionally, the NWE monoethylene glycol contract price for December had been settled at Eur660/mt (around $945.78/mt) FD NWE.
