Purified terephthalic acid sagged under the pressure of a weak futures market, polyester sales and price cuts, as regional PTA plants resumed normal production after shutdowns. Polyester producers in eastern China cut prices by up to Yuan 700/mt over four days due to weak sales, while Jiangyin Huahong Chemical Fiber, Jiangsu Huaxicun, Jiangsu Sanfangxiang and Shaoxing Yuandong were said to have shut staple fiber plants owing to poor economics.
