The formula-derived PTA contract was not concluded due to an unsettled paraxylene contract. Participants expected the US PX contract to decrease in April following lower contracts in Asia and Europe with the only question just how much it would fall. One PET maker believed the PX contract could fall 3-4 cents/lb, and that would take about 2- 2.5 cents/lb off the PTA contract.
