PET spot prices in Northwest Europe moved down marginally as vacations caused a lull in demand, however, freely negotiated contract prices were heard settling with an increase around the pass-through raw material costs. Raw materials: While the August paraxylene contract price was fully settled last week at Eur1,120/mt, an increase of Eur95 compared with July, sources have said that monoethylene glycol has not fully settled, with only an initial settlement agreed. A week ago last Monday, the initial August MEG contract for Northwest Europe settled at Eur1,048/mt ($1,508/mt) FD NWE, an increase of Eur4/mt from July.
