Spot polyethylene terephthalate prices for August rose in Northwest Europe as expectations for even higher prices in September were widespread in the market. RPET flake producers said they would wait to see the direction virgin PET prices will go before setting their September pricing. Raw materials: Several market sources said, looking forward to September, a raw materials increase of at least Eur50/mt was expected. There still remains no final settlement on the August Northwest European contract price. A trader said that he expects there will be no MEG settlement in August and, instead, the initial MEG settlement at Eur1,048/mt ($1,508/mt) FD NWE for August will be rolled into an agreement for the September contract price, as happened last October. However, the trader said he expected the September MEG contract would have to be increased for MEG producers to settle the August contract at that level.
