Spot propylene prices in Europe slipped this week following Friday’s contract price settlement at Eur930/mt, down Eur10/mt from August. The reduction reflected the length of supply, which has been further extended as crackers ran flat out to ease the ethylene availability constraints, boosting the propylene supply, sources said. Production outages in the polypropylene segment released extra C3 material, further building up the pressure on C3 spot values, they added. “Cracker run rates are really high. As a result, there’s more C3 product than expected. The turnarounds are not impacting on supply,” a trader said.
