The NWE butadiene and crude C4 markets were seen as well- supplied this week as cracker rates continued to benefit C4 production and sellers took advantage of strong US demand to sell on excess material. As a result, the peak prices seen earlier this summer continued their decline, suggesting that the third quarter contract, due to be agreed next month, could decrease. As an early signal, the monthly contract for September was agreed at a fall of Eur10/mt, the parties involved said. Ineos Olefins, Dow Europe and Styron confirmed agreeing a price of Eur1,450/mt FD NWE ($1,841.50/mt FD NWE) while another buyer, which asked not to be named, confirmed following the price.
