：Objective To investigate the effect of acupoint application and acupoint massage in treatment of chronic pharyngitis, and to summarize related nursing management. Methods 〓Totally 160 patients with chronic pharyngitis were randomly divided into the control group and the treatment group, with 80 cases in each group. Patients of both two groups received acupoint application and comprehensive nursing interventions, and those in the treatment group were given acupoint application additionally. The clinical efficacy of treatment and symptom self-rating scale on chronic pharyngitis were evaluated after three courses of treatment. Results 〓There were 10 cases(n=5 in the treatment group, n=5 in the control group)lost to follow-up. After three courses of standard treatment, the overallefficacy rate was 85.33%(64/75)in the treatment group and 69.33%(52/75)in the control group, with a significant difference(P0.05). Conclusion 〓The acupoint application combined with acupoint massageis effective in treatment of chronic pharyngitis. It is also required to carry out comprehensive nursing interventions including psychological care, dietary care and health education.
