Exploratory Structural Analysis on Formulation in 『Wenbingtiaobian(溫病條辨)』 by Network Analysis

Purpose: By using network analysis, the purpose ofthis study is to analyse whether the prescription groupingis well-divided according to three disease process,upper/middle/lower energizer, and warming-heat/dampnessheatwhich treatment method is differentiated with clearingmethod and warming method.Methods: We separated prescriptions in Wenbingtiaobian() into upper/middle/lower energizer processand warming-heat/dampness-heat division. Netminer, oneof the network analysis program, is utilized to analyzeeach structure. Glycyrrhiza uralensis is applicated widelyfor harmonizing other herbs. According to our judgement,Glycyrrhiza uralensis is not main herb that influences thetreatment method, so Glycyrrhiza uralensis is ruled out at theanalysis.Results: As a result of analysis following disease processof upper/middle/lower energizer, there is not definite divisionbut somewhat tendency. As a result of analysis followingwarming-heat/dampness-heat division, there is not definitedivision in upper energizer, but there is comparatively definitedivision in middle/lower energizer.Conclusion: For the consequence of network analysis ofprescriptions in Wenbingtiaobian( ) , the prescriptionsare not made up quite separately for upper/middle/lowerenergizer process and it means there are some herbsthat used in Wenbingtiaobian( ) commonly throughoutupper/middle/lower energizer. At warming- heat/dampnessheatdivision, as well as there is different treatment methodclearing method and warming method, prescriptions aremade up more separately.
