Passive Safety of Rail Vehicles Report on the 8th International Symposium in Berlin on the 10th and 11th of February, 2011

The 8th International Symposium on "Passive Safety of Rail Vehicles and Safe Interiors", organized by an international organ-ization committee and the German Interdisciplinary Railway Research Association (IFV-Bahntechnik), took place in Berlin on the 10th and llth of February 2011. More than 100 experts of 16 countries from railway industries, Operators, research in-stitutes and administrations have participated in this international Symposium, which demonstrates that passive safety is one of the most important research areas in railway industry. In the Conference, the lectures focused on experiments and Software simulations made according to the Standards EN 15227 and EN 12663 for different types of crash scenarios. These lectures are described in the following topics.
