Im Mit- und Nebeneinander von nationalstaatlicher und europäischer Identität können Meistererzählungen (narratives) eine wichtige Rolle spielen. Auf der (verfassungs-) rechtlichen Ebene kann das Versprechen von Rechtsstaatlichkeit und Sicherheit bzw. das Versprechen einer wertebasierten Friedensordnung Kern solcher Narrative sein. Das Recht, vor allem die national und europäisch zuständigen Gerichte, kann durch die Entwicklung einer Sprache beitragen, die zur nationalen und transnational-europäischen Koexistenz beiträgt.%Grand narratives can play an important role in fostering identity, both on a national and on a European level. From a legal and constitutional perspective, the promise of security and rule of law on a national level, and the promise of a values-based continental peace order on an international level can be regarded as key elements of these narratives. The respective constitutional courts can substantially contribute to the co-existence of these identities by developing a language of politics enabling open communication instead of confrontation and exclusion.
