Case study: under the Chmielnik mountain

Jelenia Cora is a city situated in the south-west of Poland and spread out over an area of 108km2. It has a population of 88,000. The city's location in a valley surrounded by mountains, and the presence of numerous monuments, makes it attractive for tourists. The project was partially funded (60%) by cohesion funds from the European Union, and was divided into various construction phases. These comprised the pipeline connecting the water intake of the Sosnowka tank and the water treatment plant; the water mains supplying water from the wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) to the water networks of Jelenia Cora; and construction of the sewage system and modernisation of the existing wastewater treatment plant.
