Morocco secures US$272m loan to upgrade water assets

Islamic Development Bank (IDB) has granted Morocco a US$272 million loan to improve and extend its water pipeline and conveyance infrastructure. A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed with the IDB group in Rabat by Mohamed Boussaid, minister of economy, and Ahmed Mohammed Ali, president of IDB group. The first project, which is expected to benefit over 1.5 million people, involves the reinforcement of potable-water infrastructure in Agadir and transport of water produced by the Tamri treatment plant.
