Altadis sales jump

Altadis upped Ebitda 8.4% to ?556m in H1. The results were aided by acquisitions in Russia and Italy and "a very good performance of the cigar division and of international sales of Gauloises". Sales jumped 13.9% to ?1.9bn, with ?189m coming from acquisitions. Sales of cigarettes rose by a quarter to 65.8bn sticks with blonds account for 70%. Blond sales were up 2.3% in Spain despite an overall market decline of 1 % In Spain, Altadis blond sales volume and market share both declined but turnover rose from ?220m to ?225m.
