The European Patent Office Patent Information Conference returns to Italy after 17 years: A perspective on the intervening years

After a 17 year absence (EPIDOS 1996, Turin - Fig. 1) the European Patent Office's annual conference for Patent Information this year returns to Italy.Following an invitation by the UIBM (Italian Patent and Trademark Office) the conference, which has, in recent years, changed its name to EPOPIC (European Patent Office Patent Information Conference) [ 1 ], will be held in Bologna on 22-24 October 2013, with a side event organized the following day by the AIDB (Italian Association of Patent Documentalists) [2] to attract the attention of Italian industry and professionals to the matter.As usual, it will be a very important occasion for the participants to become aware of and discuss the developments of the sector through a huge program of presentations, forums, training courses and meetings with, in addition to the EPO experts, experts also from patent offices, companies, IP firms and commercial organizations.
