Hsiung Feng

Taiwan's antiship missile efforts began with a locally built copy of the Israeli Gabriel missile, called the Hsiung Feng I (Brave Wind I). In 1983, the CS1ST began development of a new missile heavily influenced by the US Harpoon antiship missile. The surface launched version completed development and entered production in 1990. The air launched variant completed development in 1993. Taiwan began funding procurement of a land attack version, the Hsiung Feng 2E, in the 2008 budget.
