Sky Bow (TK-1/TK-2)

Sky Bow (Tien Rung, or TK-1) is the term given for a series of Taiwanese air defense missiles designed to replace older US systems still in use as part of an air defense update program called Sky Net. The system was made possible by a 1981 US-Taiwan agreement over the transfer of Patriot missile technology. Sky Bow 1 is a missile resembling Patriot in aerodynamic configuration, but employing Standard/I-HAWK guidance technology. It is being deployed to upgrade the Taiwanese HAWK network. The original plans were for 9 batteries with 700 missiles, but current plans call for 6 batteries with 500 missiles evenly split between the TK-1 and TK-2. Six batteries were deployed as of 2000.
