Russia is currently exporting three high-altitude surface-to-air missile (SAM) systems, the Almaz S-350, the Antey S-300V, and the new Almaz/Antey S-400 Triumf. The Almaz S-300P system is a close analog of the US Army's Patriot air defense system but apparently has ended production in favor of two evolutions, the medium range S-350 Vityaz, and the long-range S-400 Triumf. The Antey S-300V has no immediate counterpart except for the THAAD, and was the world's first dedicated anti-tactical ballistic mis- sile system (ATBM). A new system, the S-500 is in development which is expected to be a closer THAAD counterpart.
