The Penguin is a medium-weight antiship missile suitable for launch from ships, helicopters or fixed-wing aircraft. The Penguin is the only antiship missile now in service that relies solely on IR guidance. This has made it attractive to nations with irregular, rocky coastlines that would inhibit radar-guided antiship missiles. Not surprisingly, the major purchasers of the Penguin have been Norway, Sweden, Greece and Turkey.
