Five years ago, David Eldon spoke about the outlook for Hong Kong and for Asia at the annual International Council of Hides Skins & Leather Traders Associations Conference in Hong Kong - his speech was published in World Leather, May 1995. Since then he has risen to become chairman of HSBC, the Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited and, unrelated, Asia has been through a financial crisis. This April he was invited to speak again at ICHSLTA's meeting and an edited version of speech appears here.
