Bogotá seminar should help tanners and designers form stronger ties

Tanners in Colombia were able to benefit from a seminar on competitiveness, organisation and business leadership that the country's economic development minister organised on April 14 in Bogota. Spanish economics academic, Francisco Leguizamon, from the IESE business school at the university of Navarra, travelled to South America to chair the event. One of the ministry's hopes is to boost Bogota's standing as a centre for fashion design excellence. Another is to encourage stronger ties between designers and materials manufacturers, including tanners. The region around the capital city is home to 57% of Colombia's leather, leathergoods and footwear producers.
