Fantastic plastic bridges

International engineering consultant Parsons Brinckerhoff has designed what it claims is the world's first recycled plastic railway bridges for the US Army at Fort Eustis in Virginia.rnThe innovative structures, which can support 130tonnernrailway locomotives, completed load trials and are in service.rnThe bridges use Recycled Structural Composite (RSC), a thermoplastic solution manufactured by Axion International Holdings, patented by Rutgers University in New Jersey, USA, and formed from recycled domestic and industrial plastic.
