摘要

There is a hidden wealth of untapped crops for mass-market potential, according to health ingredients specialist Aduna. Through an integrity-driven business model, the UK-based company is promoting a shift away from intensive monoculture farming with novel super crops. This year, it partnered with the African Union-led Great Green Wall flagship initiative to build a global value chain for baobab. The African super fruit is estimated to be worth US$1 billion to rural Africa, sustaining the livelihoods of ten million households. "We're a business that specializes in pioneering innovative underutilized ingredients from Africa, so our expansion targets involve getting those ingredients known in the market and mainstreaming them," Andrew Hunt, co-founder and CEO of Aduna, tells The World of Food Ingredients.
