It's been over five years since Deep-water Horizon, and in its wake was a lot of talk about making it safer to drill and preventing a similar disaster from occurring in the future. Opinions differ on whether it is indeed safer to drill in the deepwater Gulf, but this much is clear: Oil companies want offshore service contractors who can prove that their businesses, vessels and people are up to the new safety culture and standards that have been created.
