Alpaca winter concerns

Severe weather conditions have been affecting Peru's alpaca farmers during this year's winter season, which runs from June to September, with very cold temperatures fatal to newly-born alpacas. Annual winter season mortality rates tend to be in the order of 5% of the herd sizes but, with recorded temperatures of -23℃, the figure is expected to be greater this year.
