US to produce machine-washable wool

The Sheep Venture Co. (SVC), in association with the American Sheep Industry Association, has reintroduced manufacturing equipment to the US that allows wool products to be machine washed and dried without shrinking - a treatment known as superwash. The treatment line, which is in production and processing orders, is housed at Chargeurs Wool USA in Jamestown, South Carolina, the one remaining topmaking facility in the US, which allows various companies to apply the washable treatment to a wide range of US wool products, and is available for spinners and knitters.
